They say that a car is like a human body, it needs food in the form of gasoline and oil to keep it going, it needs adequate water to avoid overheating of the radiator. And also it needs sufficient amount of fresh air to make it perform better with better mileage and horsepower. When you are in a clustered room and ventilation is poor, you can feel shortness in your breath and dementia. Same is true with cars, when the air inside it comes from the heat of the under hood, your car will not perform at its best. So as mechanic, I strongly suggests that you give your car a flush of fresh oxygen all the time by having a cold air intake. A cold air intake is one of the most important accessory of the car. It gives the car enormous benefits and it does not cost a lot. You can actually find a wide variety of cold air intakes online with different features and prices. You will surely find the one that will fit best in your car. You are actually giving your car a breathing space by forcing cold air inside the car engine making it perform at its finest.

It does not matter if you work in a huge corporation with a marble wall or in a fast food chain restaurant. It does not matter if you are earning a five digit paycheck very month or a weekly wage. It does not matter if you wear designer clothes and killer shoes or a worn out factory uniform. What hot shot executives and a rank and file employee have in common is, they both have a job. A job they both need to spend hours everyday to accomplish the thing things should be done. They both need to put their heart in their work if they want to keep it. No matter if you are handling three hundred employees or you are one of those three hundred employee, you must know what you are doing and you should have passion in your work. Every year, there are thousands of fresh graduated vying for your position, either you keep it or move to another job but competition will be all over you where ever you may go.

I find it very funny when I get my five digit paycheck every month and I seemed to be always short in cash just a few day before my next paycheck get released. I have this favorite Japanese restaurant and I befriended one of the senior cooks because I was one of their regulars. He was earning just a fraction of what I was earning and he was able to send four children to school and has a full time housewife. I am single, with no immediate family to support but money seems slip from my hand whenever I get my paycheck. Then I realize, my bachelor suite, my expensive wines and designer suits are eating up most of my paycheck and I do not even have a savings account. I have multiple credit cards, a flashy car and a membership in a gold club. Looking back at my life, I was happy being single, happy but not contented. Everyday, I go home with nobody to greet me or ask how was my day. Suddenly, I felt so alone and so empty inside.

When I married my wife, I know I married a high maintenance woman, so to speak. She was a model and she was used to designer clothes and all expensive things. I have a good job in the city and I can provide all her needs and desires. I even bought her a sleek sedan on our first wedding anniversary. But just when I though I was giving all what she wants, I soon found out that she was having an affair with his driver. It shattered my heart, I confronted her and asked her if there is something she wanted so bad that I wasn’t able to buy and she resorted on punishing me by having an affair with another man. Then she told me, I did not buy her time. Puzzled, I was thinking of an enormously expensive watch, it did not sink in to me until latter that she wants my time. So I was too busy providing all her whims and desires that I needed to stay sixteen hours in the office everyday.

In any workplace, having a higher position means having a higher paychecks. Call centers are an exemption. In here, being an agent is better than being a supervisor. When you are an agent, if you call out and closed a lot of sale for the week or you collected a number of delinquent payments, you will end up getting more incentives and commissions. While supervisors are just there tallying your numbers and making a progress report, they are not entitled to incentives. So no wonder old employees tend to be just the sales agents and the supervisors are the new hires. There are a lot of motivation why we apply for a job. Monetary compensation, needed to establish ourself after graduation, provide for the needs of the immediate family, whatever it is, one of the main reasons my most people find a job is to have a money. So why would you aspire for a higher position when you can have a regular but high paying job.

When my husband and I have decided to have a child, we have also decided that one of us should stay at home and take care of the baby while the other one continue providing for the family. It was a good set up considering that he was earning a good sum of money and the three of us can have a comfortable life. But what we did not expected was I will be having twins and just a few months after I gave birth, I conceive our third child. Feeding three babies and providing their needs gets a bit tougher especially when only one member of the family generates the income. So after much deliberation, we have decided to get a good nanny and I will be back in the corporate world. Since I have a wider and more extensive work experience than my husband I landed in a position that has a higher pay than my husband. At first we were so happy, we were able to buy out three children school plans. But soon unspoken competition between the two providers arises.

A few years ago, I used to be called a hot shot executive, on my first week in the office I was tagged as one of the candidates for the rising superstar slot. In less than six months, I got a raise. Within the same year, I became one of the junior executive. The next year, I became a senior partner. In no time, I became the executive vice president. Every rising superstars have many detractors, some of my co executives who were bypassed by fast rising speed in the corporate ladder searched for a flaw in my management skills or in my financial management. But even if they hire a forensic auditor, they will not find a single flaw because my work is my passion. Every time I make a client presentation, I will surely sweep them off their feet and as sure as the sun rise in the east, the contract will be signed and hands will be shaking. I was soon called the iron butterfly because I can beat male bidders in a big project. But all changes when one morning, I woke up with a funny feeling in my stomach and a rush in the bathroom. When I felt my breast swelling, I know I am a full pledge woman now.

A month ago, I told myself that I have had enough work pressure and I should be quitting my job if I want to keep my sanity. Those mountain high paper works and power presentation keeps me awake until the wee hours in the morning and it literally cut off my social life. The last time I dated was before I got the job. Each year I got a promotion and it meant having more and more responsibility. Yes of course, I got a fatter paycheck but that is beside the point. So I printed my resignation letter before I went to bed and I have decided that I will be getting a less stressful job even with a lower pay. But as I wait for sleep to visit me, I remembered all the bills I need to pay and all the credit card charges I need to settle. If I will be getting a lower income job, I need to cut back my shopping spree and my satellite TV connection. I also need to stop buying expensive suits and casual wears. I needed to give up my branded stilettos. I may not be able to dine at fancy restaurants again. So I stood up, tear my resignation letter into pieces and went back to my expensive bed.

After being a full time mom for more than seven years, my husband and I , after he was laid off from work, have decided to change roles. He will take care of the kids and I will go back on the corporate world. It was not easy hauling back my business suits in our closet. They have not been used for more than half a decade already. Since I worked in a prestigious company before and I have been one of the rising executives that time, it was easy for me to present my power resume to my prospective employer. And as the resume speaks of my qualifications and eligibility, I got the job the moment I stepped into the manager’s office. Sometimes it does not matter how famous your university in college was, when it comes to getting the job that you want, your work experience will back you up better.

When I was new in the office, there is a lounge where you can have free coffee, milk or tea and donuts. There are free newspapers as well in the cafeteria. There are also mid year and annual bonuses aside from the extra spa gift card from the big boss. But as the years go by, as competition gets more cutthroat, the management have decided to cut down some of the operating cost. The mid year bonus vanished together with the free coffee and newspapers and was replaced by a coffee vending machine. Soon personnels were laid off and some were even forced to resigned so to speak, with those that have questionable audit records. Since names are being scrutinized, employees tend to perform better or their name will be put in the danger list of being laid off. Economic pressures often results in feeling of panic and uncertainty and more often it triggers employees to do better.
